Vinohero of the Month: New Zealand’s Pa Road

Date

It’s that time again where we introduce you to one our Vinoheroes! This month, welcome to Pa Road, our friends from over in the beautiful Marlborough region of New Zealand.

This fabulous range of wines from the family owned Te Pa, are true gems of the region. Their history stems back almost 800 years to the early Māori explorers who first landed in the place Pa Road now calls its home. Over the generations, the family have cared for, nurtured and respected the land, this deep connection is what really brings their wines to life.

They know the land like the back of their hand, and every vine is considered and looked after in the best way. The result? Soft, yet complex, vibrant and fruity wines with a distinctive and unique flavour, balanced perfectly with the traditional flavours of the region.

We have two of the best wines from Pa Road, their deliciously smooth and spicy Pinot Noir and the fresh and zesty Sauvignon Blanc.

Pinot Noir: Smooth and velvety with a little added spice, this one is an absolute must with a good ol’ cheeseboard. Ripe cherries and red fruits come through in flavour, with the spice adding a slightly savoury touch. Balanced out by a touch of oak and a long finish, it’s truly glorious on a cold…spring day? (yes we are technically in spring….the snow says otherwise…).

Sauvignon Blanc: this Sauvy B is absolutely bursting with notes of citrus, lemongrass and passionfruit, which carries through in the flavour. It’s got a youthful and fresh flavour thanks to the terroir, followed by a crisp finish that Sauvignon Blanc is synonymous with. Of course, this makes the perfect pairing for seafood, particularly shellfish. So even if you’re not by the sea, it feels as if you are somewhere by the coast…and warm!
